In February 2025, Singapore will implement a significant financial support initiative under the Assurance Package (AP), specifically targeting lower-income seniors. Approximately 850,000 Singaporeans aged 55 and older will benefit from cash payments ranging from $200 to $300. This initiative is part of a broader effort to mitigate rising living costs and provide substantial support to the elderly population.
Overview of the Assurance Package
The Assurance Package is a comprehensive response designed to help Singaporeans cope with the escalating costs associated with the Goods and Services Tax (GST) increase. It encompasses a range of benefits, including cash payouts, MediSave top-ups, and Community Development Council (CDC) vouchers, aiming to cover a broad spectrum of the population with varying financial needs.
2025 AP Seniors’ Bonus Details
The AP Seniors’ Bonus is designed to provide targeted financial relief, with the final disbursement scheduled for February 2025. Seniors residing in homes with an Annual Value (AV) below $13,000 will receive $250 if they are aged 55-64 and $300 if they are 65 or older. Those in homes valued between $13,001 and $21,000 will receive $200, regardless of age. This initiative aims to ease financial burdens for elderly citizens as the program concludes.
Eligibility Requirements for Seniors’ Bonus
To qualify for the 2025 AP Seniors’ Bonus, applicants must be Singapore citizens residing locally, own only one property, and have an assessable income not exceeding $34,000 based on the Year of Assessment 2023. Additionally, the Annual Value of the owned property must not exceed $21,000.
Additional MediSave Top-Ups

In addition to the Seniors’ Bonus, the AP includes MediSave top-ups of $150 for all Singaporeans aged under 20 or over 55. This benefit, awarded in February 2025, is designed to help cover ongoing healthcare costs, irrespective of home value or income levels.
Notification and Payment Process
Eligible recipients will be notified via SMS once the benefits are credited in February 2025. Those without a registered mobile number linked to Singpass, or who do not receive an SMS, will be sent a notification letter to their registered address. To ensure timely payment, seniors are advised to link their NRIC to PayNow by January 26, 2025, with disbursements starting as early as February 5.
Vigilance Against Scams
The government also cautions recipients against potential scams. Official communications will come from “gov.sg” and will not request personal information or contain clickable links. Importantly, no messages regarding payment will be sent through WhatsApp or other mobile messaging platforms.
The Assurance Package, with its Seniors’ Bonus and MediSave top-ups, represents a significant part of Singapore’s commitment to supporting its elderly population amid rising living costs. By providing these timely disbursements and ensuring straightforward claim processes, the government aims to bolster the financial stability of its older citizens. Eligible seniors must ensure they have completed the necessary steps to receive these benefits promptly and remain vigilant against fraudulent schemes.
